| Beijing to upgrade emergency response system |

China Daily reported on Monday that Beijing is soon to establish a more effective emergency response system. Drawing on lessons from the fight against SARS, the Beijing municipal government is working towards a new network to coordinate the response to emergencies with those of grass－roots authorities.
A draft report on the system was released on the municipal government's website over the weekend for public comment.
The system is expected to involve 17 committees, offices and bureaus of the municipal government. Quick responses to emergency events in the fields of public health, counter－terrorism, fire control, traffic safety and disaster relief will be given priority.
