The Chinese Communications Ministry says that as the SARS epidemic is brought under control, the country's cargo and passenger transportation is gradually getting back on track.
Zhaogongkou bus station is the largest long-distance bus station in Beijing. During the peak period of SARS, the station only saw about 10 shifts daily with 100 passengers. Now the station is serving more than 1,800 passengers with 160 runs of buses each day.
But the traffic volume is still only about half of that before the SARS outbreak. According to the Communications Ministry statistics, China's waterway transportation decreased by 40 percent last month.
But relevant national and regional government agencies and organizations have now taken effective measures to minimize the influence of SARS.
