The Chinese Education Ministry has opened the first session of its online job hunting week for university and college graduates. The event has already proved a success with more than 100,000 people participating so far.
Students and companies took part in the online job hunting through the web site "Employment Service Information Web for Chinese University and College Graduates". More than 280,000 students from 170 universities and Over 2,000 companies, including Lenovo, and China Life Insurance will utilize the service. The first day's activity could provide over 80,000 jobs, and the number will increase with continued online activity.
"The total number of university graduates this year is 2.12 million, and that's about 670,000 more than last year. Due to the influence of SARS, not as many face-to-face job interviews can be held as usual. So, we hosted this activity to make it more convenient for a large number of graduates and companies," said Qian Liting with Education Management Information Center of Chinese Education Ministry.
Also today, many talent markets in Beijing reopened, including Zhong Guancun Market and Lama Temple Market. They provide an environment for communication between businesses and job seekers. To ensure safety, the talent markets conducted periodic disinfections, temperature testing, and visitor control.
