With the SARS epidemic coming under control across China, various cultural, sport and entertainment facilities have resumed their operation.

Although it was a working day, a considerably large number of Shanghai residents visited the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum. Many of the visitors were medical care workers, who received free tickets from the museum management, as an reward for their great contribution to the campaign against SARS.

Many of the displayed items in the museum offer a hands-on experience for visitors. The items triggered the curiosity of the visitors, who could not help having a go. During the first day of reopening, the Shanghai Museum attracted nearly 5,000 visitors.

In the Provincial Library of central China's Henan Province, the number of daily visitors has increased rapidly to 800 from the initial number of 70 people, since it reopened on June 2.

At the Anshan Sports Center in northeast China's Liaoning Province, the number of local people doing physical exercise has also become increasingly large.

And in Beijing, which was hit hard by SARS, local swimming pools are also expected to reopen in the next few days. Of course, the swimmers will first have to pass certain health checks for controlling SARS before they dive into the water.
