Starting Wednesday, all legally－certified hotels or inns in Beijing are permitted to accommodate foreigners, not just multi－star complexes with fancy facilities. It's believed that the move by Beijing's Public Security Bureau will make things more convenient for foreigners.
Traditionally, Beijing has maintained a restriction on the scale and facilities of hotels designated to receive foreign visitors or business people. Local residents used to associate these places with the luxury of five－star hotels. Things are no longer so.
From now on, foreigners can freely choose the most suitable residences in Beijing to facilitate their travel, business or study. As the first step, the new regulation will be implemented in Beijing's eight districts. From October 1, the decree will be valid throughout Beijing.
