| Chinese Health Ministry reports 12 new SARS cases |

There were 12 new severe acute respiratory syndrome （SARS） cases and two new deaths from the disease between 10:00 a.m. May 20 and 10:00 a.m. May 21 on the Chinese mainland, the Ministry of Health reported Wednesday.
The cumulative SARS cases rose to 5,249, while the number of SARS patients discharged from hospitals and the death toll reached 2,335 and 296, respectively, the ministry said in a daily report.
Beijing reported eight new SARS cases and two deaths from the disease from 10:00 a.m. May 20 to 10:00 a.m. May 21, the Ministry of Health said.
