The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine has introduced ten emergency measures aimed at reducing the negative impact of the SARS epidemic on foreign trade.

The measures include requiring relevant departments at various levels to provide priority and efficient services to SARS donated goods from foreign governments and international organizations.

The administration also requires these departments to implement an effective system of accountability to provide efficient services to enterprises engaged in foreign trade, and expand the scale and scope of electronic customs clearance services for them. For foods that can be easily contaminated, and domestic livestock and various animal and plant products destined to the Hong Kong and Macao regions, the administration requires enterprises to make sure their exports meet safe and hygienic standards.
