Starting from Sunday, passengers travelling on trains in China must fill in health declaration cards to facilitate national efforts to contain the SARS epidemic. According to the Ministry of Railways, passengers with body temperatures higher than 37.5 degrees Celsius are banned from getting on board.

At the Beijing Railway Station, workers are seriously checking the health declaration cards filled in by passengers, before allowing them to check in. And on railway platforms, train attendants are collecting the cards from the passengers.

In Guangzhou, railway transport departments have reinforced personnel on trains to explain to passengers the necessity and importance of filling in their medical information on the cards so as to effectively prevent the spread of SARS.

The same health measures have also been implemented simultaneously in major railway transport hubs including Shanghai, Zhengzhou, Nanchang, Shenyang and Lanzhou.

Service personnel at railway stations and on trains are also on hand to help those passengers unable to read and write to fill in the health declaration cards.
