Although the service sector has somewhat stalled, Beijing's auto markets are driving ahead with high sales volume for April. Despite the negative impact of SARS, the trading ratio jumped by 60 percent last month.

Though visitors are fewer than before SARS, the ones brave enough to come are likely to buy. At the Northern Auto Market, Beijing's largest one, deals are made quickly.

One seller there says Beijing's auto market entered a peak period in April, with trading volume up by nearly 30 percent over that of March. In the first three months of this year, auto sales volume jumped by 30 percent over the same period of last year.
