SARS medicines put on market for Beijing residents

    Residents in Beijing have taken various measures to fight against the spreading disease of SARS. Great amount of medicine to prevent SARS has been put on market to cope with the consumers' demand. Meanwhile, people are also turning to bookstores to get more knowledge about the prevention of SARS.

    At present, various types of medicine for preventing SARS are being sold in Beijing. Continuing stream of people went to drugstores to get the medicines, mostly traditional Chinese medicines. In order to cope with the demand of people, most drugstores have ceased wholesale and set an up most amount of 12 for each consumer.

    "We can satisfy the demand of all the consumers to get the medicine," said a drugstore assistant.

    Meanwhile in most bookstores in Beijing, people are keeping buying books on prevention and cure of SARS. "More than 4,000 books of this type have been sold since April 10. Besides retailing, there are lots of wholesale demands," said a bookstore assistant.

    "I buy the book to get some knowledge on how to prevent SARS," said a consumer.

    According to the bookstore assistant, books on SARS are getting more and more popular in Beijing.
