| Chinese Health Ministry reports 16 new SARS cases |

There were 16 new severe acute respiratory syndrome （SARS） cases and seven new deaths from the disease between 10:00 a.m. May 24 and 10:00 a.m. May 25 on the Chinese mainland, the Ministry of Health reported Sunday.
The cumulative SARS cases rose to 5,316 while the number of SARS patients discharged from hospitals and the death toll reached 2,742 and 315 respectively, the ministry said in a daily report
Beijing reported 13 new SARS cases and four new deaths from the disease from 10:00 a.m. May 24 to 10:00 a.m. May 25, the Ministry of Health said.
