Chinese mainland reports 2,914 SARS cases

    The accumulative severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) cases on the Chinese mainland rose to 2,914 as of 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Health.

    A total of 1,299 SARS patients has been discharged from hospitals upon recovery while 131 SARS patients have died, according to the information office of the ministry.

    The total number of SARS cases in Beijing rose to 1,114 as of 10:00 a.m. April 27, the Ministry of Health said here Sunday.

    Of the SARS patients in the Chinese capital, 78 have been discharged from hospitals upon recovery and 56 have died, the information office of the ministry said.

    From 10:00 a.m. April 26 to 10:00 a.m. April 27, Beijing reported 126 new SARS cases, two patients were discharged from hospitals upon recovery and eight died.
