 Hu Jintao, general－secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, was elected president of China Saturday morning at an on－going session of the 10th National People's Congress, China's top legislature.
Jiang Zemin shook hands with new president Hu Jintao
Hu, born in 1942, has been China's vice－president since 1998.
