| Chinese vice－premier joins panel discussion of NPC delegation |

 Chinese Vice－Premier Li Lanqing joined a panel discussion of the delegation of deputies from Jiangsu Province to the just－opened First Session of the 10th National People's Congress （NPC）, China's top legislature, in Beijing Wednesday afternoon.
Vice－Premier Li first thanked lawmakers from Jiangsu, a booming coastal province in east China, for their support to the work of the central government in the past five years.
He also praised Jiangsu Province for its rapid economic growth over recent years, which he said had laid a solid foundation for its future development.
The vice－premier expressed the hope that the people of Jiangsu would comprehensively implement the guidelines of the 16th National Congress of the Communist Party of China （CPC）, held in Beijing last November, as well as the important thought of Three Represents, and strive to lead the country in attaining the goal of building a well－off society in an all－round way.
During the panel discussion, NPC deputies in the Jiangsu delegation voiced their opinions on the Government Work Report delivered by Premier Zhu Rongji at the opening meeting of the NPC session Wednesday morning.
They all agreed that Zhu's report, with a clear－cut theme, substantial contents and a down－to－earth and truth－telling style, was real encouraging.
