A new law overseeing the recall of faulty cars and other automobiles is to be unveiled in the new year. The regulation will incorporate feedback from customers and automakers who have been subjected to a draft version published last October.
Nearly 100 percent of the customers who took part in the draft law during the autumn warmly welcomed the recall policy. Most automakers agree that the new law will further standardize China's auto industry.
Officials from the Regulation Department of the State Administration for Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, said a team of experts had been fine tuning the law over the past 10 months.
Chinese consumers have long complained that global automobile giants such as Daimler-Chrysler and Honda have excluded China from their recall policies. The major reason for the different treatment was due to China's lack of laws governing the recall of defective vehicles.
Under the new law, all faulty vehicles, irrespective of whether they are imported or manufactured domestically, must be recalled by auto makers for the sake of consumer safety. Industry experts say that it is imperative to develop a recall system and that domestic car makers should be treated equally.
