China's national women's volleyball team has defeated the US in the first match of the final round of the World Grand Prix Volleyball Tournament in Italy.
In the straight sets, 25－21, 26－24 and 28－26 victory, China's performance in blocking and defense proved the difference over the US who were silver medalist at the 2002 World Championships in Germany. The Japanese head coach who leads the US team confessed that his side made mistakes at some crucial moments.
