Overseas Chinese in the United States say the Anti-Secession Law conforms to current international legal procedure. They believe that the majority of overseas Chinese, as well as Taiwan compatriots, will be accepting. Liu Dazheng, of the China Reunification League in New York, says the Central government has widely sought opinions from overseas Chinese before finally issuing the Anti-Secession Law. To him, it's proof of representativeness and transparency, and a sign of the rule by law.
Liu Dazheng, China Reunification league in New York, said, "It's a responsible move for the entire nation. From the point of internationally accepted law-making procedure, the law stresses participation with high transparency and responsibility. All this indicates a step forward to better administration and management of the country."
This professor from the University of Southern California University says that, from a long-term point of view, the law will help maintain the prosperity and stability in the Taiwan region. Zhang Wenji says a greater majority of Taiwan compatriots will realize the meaning and significance of the law and accept it.
The Sino-US Forum organizer, Dong Shurong, says the Anti-Secession Law aims to contain the "Taiwan independence" secessionist forces and realize the peaceful reunification. So future work should focus on further publicizing and interpreting the law to eliminate misunderstandings.
Overseas Chinese in Australia and Africa have also expressed their support of the Anti-Secession Law.
