Chinese premier pledges support for HK, Macao

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao has urged the governments and people in Hong Kong and Macao to continue implementing the basic policy of "one China, two systems."

Premier Wen pledged that the central government would continue supporting the economic and social development of its two special administrative regions. Wen made the remarks at two separate meetings Sunday with Tung Chee Hwa, chief executive of the Hong Kong SAR, and Edmund Ho Hau Wah, chief executive of the Macao SAR. The two chief executives are in Beijing attending the ongoing session of the National People's Congress as nonvoting delegates.
