Two more die of bird flu in Vietnam

Vietnam has confirmed two more human deaths from bird flu. To date, the country has had 10 confirmed cases of H5N1 infections, 8 of them have died.

The victims, from northern Vietnam's Thai Binh region, died in hospital on January 22. According to the Vietnamese authorities, preliminary tests show the two sisters died from the disease, but further tests are needed before WHO draws the final conclusion. To deal with increasing infection levels, WHO has urged the country to implement effective measures to prevent the disease from spreading among people, and has appealed to the international community to offer more help.
