A second case of bird flu has been found in Taiwan, this time at a farm in the island's Chiayi County. All the chickens on the affected farm have been slaughtered.
The 20,000 chickens were destroyed on Friday after the poultry farm in Chiayi was found to have been contaminated by the H5N2 strain of the avian flu virus. Although the virus found on Taiwan is not fatal to chickens, or transmittable to humans, all the chickens on the farm were killed to prevent any possible mutation of the virus.
