A senior official of the World Health Organization has confirmed that Thailand is free from bird flu, as no case of bird flu has been found in the country so far. However, he cautioned that concrete measures to prevent the animal disease would be continued.

Earlier, the Thai government confirmed that Thai chickens are free from bird flu, saying that a large number of chickens in the northern province of Nakhon Sawan and the eastern province of Chao Choeng Sao died of a respiratory illness and diarrhea.
