The successful launch and retrieval of Shenzhou V has proved that the spacecraft's monitoring and control system, among others, has withstood the test of manned space flight and is one of the world's most advanced systems of its kind.
During the Shenzhou V mission, the monitoring and control system successfully completed its various tasks, including precise control of the flight of the re-entry capsule and accurately forecasting its landing site. The actual landing site was only 4.8 kilometers from the predicted landing site. Because of this, the search and rescue team obtained the first footage of the ignition of reverse booster engines of the re-entry capsule in the history of manned space flight. The monitoring and control system is composed of facilities including four ocean-going vessels, six ground stations and three mobile stations.
