A new round of UN climate change talks has opened in Bonn, Germany. The meeting is the first since last year's Copenhagen summit, and will discuss how to go ahead with future negotiations.
Delegates from 170 nations gathered for the 3-day meeting, that will seek to rebuild trust after December's summit disappointed many. Participants will decide a program for meetings in 2010 and air ideas about the non-binding Copenhagen Accord, backed by more than 110 nations but opposed by some developing states. Many nations favor progress on practical steps, including aid to developing nations to combat climate change.
Negotiators will also determine how many additional talks are needed in the run-up to the UN Climate Conference in Mexico, which is scheduled for the end of the year.
