Many businesses in Peshawar are still closed following the attack, the first after a recent lull in violence in the city.
On Monday afternoon, Islamist militants unleashed a car bomb and grenade attack against the consulate building, leaving four people dead. Many stores are shuttered and padlocked in the area nearby.
Fareed Ullah Khan, Peshawar businessman, said, "Business has suffered, and terror is spreading. Most people haven't sent their kids to school today because of this terror attack."
Abdul Washid Jadoon, bank worker, said, "Whatever happens in Afghanistan, we face the reaction here in Peshawar. If US forces leave Afghanistan, and the people of that country build their own government, then peace can be restored to the region."
