Donor countries will provide over two-and-a-half billion US dollars to finance development in Afghanistan over the next three financial years. The pledges come a day after Wednesday's major international conference on Afghanistan in London.

The Afghan government focused on priorities in agriculture, infrastructure and irrigation. Afghan President Hamid Karzai also set the framework for dialogue with Taliban leaders, who are reportedly to decide soon whether to join talks with the Afghan government.
