According to South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff, the DPRK appears to have fired about 20 artillery shells. South Korea is considering deploying artillery-locating radars and additional self-propelled howitzers near the disputed maritime border.
South Korean military on Friday detected sounds of artillery fire near the disputed sea border, the Northern Limit Line, off the west coast of the Korean peninsula. The move came after South Korean military warned the DPRK to stop "provocative" acts on Wednesday. The South also threatened to cancel the DPRK's designation of no-sail zones which include South Korean waters. It's the third straight day since the DPRK fired artillery in the direction of the disputed naval border. Pyongyang said the shelling was part of an annual exercise and would continue. The firing did not cause any damage or injuries.
