China's defense ministry denounces U.S. arms sales to Taiwan

China's Defense Ministry has, once again, expressed strong indignation about, and firm opposition against, US arms sales to Taiwan.

Defense Ministry spokesman Huang Xueping reiterated in a Friday statement that the US should respect China's core interests. His remarks come amid reports that the US Defense Department recently awarded the Lockheed Martin Corporation a contract to sell an unspecified number of advanced Patriot Missiles to the island.
