The US special envoy to Afghanistan is confident the run off presidential election will be fair and final. The run off will be held on the 7th of November.

US Special Envoy Ambassador Richard Holbrooke said, "It is reasonable to hope that there will be less irregularities this time for several reasons. One, there are only two candidates. Two, there is the experience factor. Three, the international community, including the forces under (U.S.) General (Stanley) McChrystal's command, are going to go all out to help make this a success."

Nearly a third of votes for President Hamid Karzai were thrown out by UN-backed auditors in the first election because of fraud. Former Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah announced on Wednesday he was ready to take part in the runoff. Election staff accused of misconduct have been replaced.
