Police officials in Pakistan say they have arrested a man identified as the head of the Pakistani Taliban in the southern city of Karachi. He was arrested, along with three other suspected militants, during a raid on the city's west side.
Waseen Ahmed, Karachi Police Chief, said, "We interrogated the suspects, and then made another raid in which we recovered 75 kilograms of high quality explosives. Their plan was to load the Royal Demolition Explosive in a vehicle, and they wanted to hit a security agency or government installation, or hit a high ranking police official."
The police chief says those arrested had connections to a foiled attempt at attacking an oil terminal last month. In September, three suspected militants wearing women's burkhas killed a security guard as they tried to enter the energy facility. The trio fled as police arrived.
