Russia's NATO envoy Dmitry Rogozin has described NATO's call for cooperation with Moscow and Washington on missile defense systems a "positive trend".

Dmitry Rogozin, Russian NATO envoy, said, "In general, we can say that a positive trend has been set in the development of military and political relations between Russia and the leading countries in the West, the United States and NATO as an organization."

He indicated Russia would not go ahead with plans to deploy medium-range missiles in Kaliningrad, a Russian enclave which borders NATO members Poland and Lithuania, if the United States abandoned plans to place ground-based interceptors in Poland and use a radar site in the Czech Republic.
