The newly elected Democratic Party of Japan has held a series of talks with two opposition parties on building a joint cabinet. But differences remain on crucial issues.
On Tuesday, the DPJ, the Social Democratic Party and the People's New Party agreed on issues involving climate change and respecting the constitution. But they disagreed on diplomacy and security. Analysts expect the three parties will hold another round of talks on Wednesday. Japanese media predicts the three parties will reach an agreement soon, in order to avoid illusion of disunity.
