After four consecutive days of examining 21 ministerial nominees, Iran's parliament on Thursday approved 18 new ministers.
Those nominees, including three women were proposed by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. One of his nominees would be the country's first women health minister. Ahmad Vahidi, his choice for defense minister, was also approved. This person is wanted by Argentina in connection with a 1994 bombing in Buenos Aires. Ahmadinejad was re-elected in June. He has three months to propose new candidates to replace those rejected by parliament.
Despite being short of three ministers, the cabinet can still begin work and the President has scheduled its first meeting for Sunday.
