Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has arrived in Berlin. This comes after his meeting with the US Middle East envoy, George Mitchell, in London. On Wednesday afternoon, the Israeli prime minister met with German president Horst Koeh-ler.

Netanyahu is set to meet with German chancellor, Angela Merkel, and foreign secretary, Frank-Walter Stein-meier, on Thursday. A joint news conference with Merkel is scheduled. Netanyahu said in London that Israel is making progress towards reopening talks with the Palestinians.
