South Korea and the DPRK are holding preliminary talks in the border area of Mountain Gumgang, about the reunion of families separated by the Korean War. Delegates from the Red Cross societies of the two sides began their meeting this afternoon.

One of the South Korean delegates is Kim Young-chol, the Secretary General of the South Korean Red Cross office. Earlier he said the main topic of discussions would be "the dispersed family issue," but added that he would also try for talks on "other humanitarian matters."
