Japanese Prime Minister, Taro Aso, and the leader of the Democratic Party, Yukio Hato-yama, have both cast absentee votes in Tokyo, ahead of the general election on August, 30th.

The leader of the main opposition party and quite possibly Japan's next Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama handed in his absentee ballot Wednesday.

Yukio Hatoyama, leader of emocratic Party, Japan, said, "There are numerous ways to vote, such as with absentee ballots or early votes, so I wish to see everyone get out there and vote. Everyone needs to experience the feeling of having your voice reflected in politics."

He left the municipal offices beaming, and was optimistic.

One day earlier, Japan's incumbent Prime Minister Taro Aso cast his ballot in Tokyo.
