Palestinian President Abbas visits Sudan

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has started a two-day visit to Sudan, the first for a Palestinian president.

Sudanese president Omar al- Bashir welcomed him at the airport. Abbas says the two sides are bound by historic and close ties and have many things to talk about.

He also repeated that his Fatah movement will attend the inter-Palestinian dialogue, and insists on its continuation and success.

Since February, Egypt has sponsored six rounds of reconciliation talks between rivals, Hamas and Fatah.
