Dulong blanket is the signature costume of Dulong people. Every Dulong, male, female, old or young, wraps a color-striped blanket over the shoulder.

Their loom is so simple yet so practical. It's only four pieces of bamboo sticks and one piece of bamboo board, and a belt, a waist belt.

Host: Is this for sale? How much is it?

Dulong woman: 300 to 400 Yuan.

300 Yuan, not an outrageous price considering the time she put in it - according to her son, it takes about three weeks to finish weaving a blanket.

The Dulong blanket comes in very handy. It can be used as blanket, bed sheet, and a designer overcoat.

We've asked three people and I have got three different answers. One says that granny is over 100 years; the other said she is ninety; whereas according to the little boy, she is in her late 70s.

Well, 110, 90, or 70 years old, no matter how old granny is, she is the only woman in this village who's got her face tattooed. Younger generation doesn't do that anymore.

There are different interpretations on why Dulong women have their face tattooed. Some say it's for the beauty effect; some say it's for self-protection, to scare off evil spirits and bandits; and some say maybe it's just a way to distinguish from different tribes and clans.

The communication with granny was not stopped by language barrier, at our request, she started to sing an ancient Dulong folk song.

Although we still could not understand the lyrics, we could almost feel the history, the life, the happiness and sorrow of Dulong people from the weight of Granny's voice.
