Ningbo part one
The Qin鈥檚 Ancestral Hall was built by a wealthy local businessman in early twentieth century and features the best of Ningbo architectural technique at the time.
Even if you are not an architecture or Chinese history fan, you will be amazed by those elegant and intricate stone carvings, brick carvings, and wood carvings.
The wood carvings here are all gold-plated, a specialty of Ningbo wood carving technique. It is said about 500 grams of gold was used just in refurbishing the stage.
The wooden beams, poles, and eaves are all carved with birds, flowers, animals, and stories from traditional opera such as the Legends of the three Kingdoms.
鈥淟ike in most cities in China, Chenghuangmiao has become the city food center. And in any small eateries like this, you can find all sorts of good food.鈥
Only four Kuai for one bowl of Tangyuan. This store has been here for almost a hundred years.
After a satisfying meal at Chenghuangmiao, nothing can beat a good walk to the downtown Sanjiang kou. Like most places in the Yangtze River delta, water is the soul of Ningbo city.
