Israel army unveils new drone

2010-02-19 12:58 BJT

The Israeli army has unveiled the largest ever unmanned surveillance drone. Local media said it can fly for over 20 hours and reach Iran.

The craft can travel at higher altitudes while carrying more weight including advanced technological systems. An Israeli air force officer says the main advantage is its flying time and range. Israeli media has estimated it could reach over 1,000 kilometers.

On Thursday, the UN nuclear watchdog said it fears Iran may be working now to develop a nuclear-armed missile. Israel has hinted it could attack Iran's nuclear facilities preemptively if it deems international diplomacy a dead end.
