UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon has met with the head of a DPRK delegation, Vice Foreign Minister Park Gil-Yon at the UN headquarters.
Ban voiced his hope that the nuclear and other outstanding issues will be resolved through dialogue.
A statement was issued after Sunday's meeting saying Ban and Park discussed issues of mutual interest and concern, including nuclear program.
Ban encouraged Pyongyang to respond positively to the recent diplomatic efforts to persuade the DPRK to return to the Six-Party Talks.
According to the statement, the secretary-general also expressed concern about the human rights situation in the country. Ban Ki-Moon expressed his hope Pyongyang would increase access to relevant information.
