Six South Korean campers have gone missing at a riverside site in Yeon-cheon. Sunday's incident occurred alongside the Imjin River, which originates in the DPRK.

Local police, say the missing were swept away by a huge wave released by a dam in the DPRK. The discharge of water caused the river's water levels to suddenly surge from about 2 meters to around 5.

On Monday, South Korea sent a message to the DPRK to express its dissatisfaction over the unannounced discharge of water from the dam.

The South Korean government is also requesting a thorough explanation of the accident and a promise from the DPRK that such an incident will not take place again.
