PM Fayyad unveils plan for Palestinian state in 2 years

The Palestinian Prime Minister says his government hopes to build an airport, international rail lines and an oil refinery to help pave the way to independence. Salam Fayyad says the new projects are part of plans to establish a de facto Palestinian state within two years.

Fayyad announced the proposals in the West Bank town of Ramallah on Tuesday as he unveiled the new 3-month-old government agenda. He says that with peace efforts with Israel on hold, Palestinians must move forward on their own.
