Some of China's would-be singers, just itching for their big break in showbiz, are now going through an intense competition at the National Young Singers Television Contest.
The competition, which is held annually on China Central Television has entered the semi-finals. This year, some changes have been made to ensure everyone get a fair chance.

The changes mainly took place in the jury panel. In order to ensure fairness, openness, and justice throughout the competition, the jury panel will enroll more judges from the regional venues in almost all provinces and autonomous regions.
The mastermind behind the show, Qin Xinmin, said that each judge is required to sign a compact of responsibility and secrecy. It's meant to guarantee a good environment for the competitors.
During the group competitions when different participants represent their home province, an elimination system has been adopted for the first time. That's to increase the show's intensity to attract more viewers.
Now, in its fourteenth year, the CCTV Young Singers Television Contest has become a prime platform for the country's promising singers to embark on a professional career. The grand finale will take place on June 9th.
