2009-12-10 17:01 BJT

The Taliban is threatening retaliation against South Korea for its decision to send troops back into Afghanistan. The group warns Seoul to be prepared for the consequences of its actions. However, a South Korean defense ministry spokesman says adequate security measures will be in place before the country deploys 350 troops to Parwan province in Afghanistan.

Won Tae-Jae, spokesman of South Korean Defense Ministry, said, "Our troops supporting our Provincial Reconstruction Team will be operating only after our military in South Korea sets up a thorough security measures plan, even if they are stationed in the safest region. So it does not seem like there will be a major problem. Also, we have included security measures for our people and corporations in Afghanistan and we are continuing to develop them as well."
