Israel has tightened security in and around East Jerusalem and extended its closure on the West Bank. The move comes amid rising tensions after clashes broke out between Palestinians and Israeli security forces on Friday.
Israeli police also announced an age restriction on those wishing to enter the old city and the area which houses the Al Aqsa mosque, Islam's third holiest shrine. The Israeli army extended its general closure on the West Bank, banning Palestinians from entering Jerusalem. On Friday, Israeli forces sealed off the West Bank fearing Palestinian anger over the expansion of Jewish settlements.
