ISLAMABAD, March 1 (Xinhua) -- Abdul Haq, a leader of an al Qaeda-linked militant, has been killed in a drone attack in Pakistan's tribal region of North Waziristan, according to sources Monday.
Alamgir Betani, a tribal journalist based in Peshawar, the capital of the North West Frontier Province (NWFP), told Xinhua that he received a call from Taliban Monday morning, saying that Abdul Haq, leader of a group called the East Turkestan Islamic Movement, was killed in a U.S. drone attack in North Waziristan.
Betani also said that intelligence and tribal sources also confirmed to him about Haq's death.
Meanwhile, a reporter in Miranshah, a major town in North Waziristan, said that those killed in the Feb. 15 drone attack were Arabs.
