8th International Student Film and Video Festival opens

The 8th International Student Film and Video Festival, hosted by Beijing Film Academy, opened on Sunday.

A total of 80 films produced by students from more than 40 countries and regions made their way to the finals in the week-long festival. They include fiction, documentaries, animated cartoons, and experimental films. More than 700 films had applied to enter. Sixty of the final films were made by international students and the rest were from the Chinese mainland, Hongkong, Macao and Taiwan. Eight short films from Israel, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, China, France, the Czech Republic, and Bulgaria premiered at the opening ceremony.

First launched by famous director Xie Fei in 2001, the International Student Film and Video Festival aims to strengthen exchanges between Film students and teaching faculty around the world.
