A Chinese Film Week opened in the Israeli city of Tel Aviv on Sunday night. The event is a joint effort by the State Council Information Office of China and the Israeli Foreign Ministry, and is dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the founding of New China and the 17th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Israel.
Addressing the opening ceremony, the Chinese Ambassador to Israel, Zhao Jun, said that Chinese film week is part of one of the biggest cultural events in Israel, noting that the culture event entitled "Experience China in Israel" is aimed at helping more Israelis get to know more about China.
The opening film "Park," which was produced in 2007, tells the story of an old-fashioned father and a modern daughter who can't stop hurting each other, even though they love each other deeply.
At the opening ceremony, industry insiders and a who's-who of prominent individuals spoke highly of the Chinese film industry, emphasizing the art form's ability to bridge the gap between cultures.
Other films include "A Battle of Wits," "You and Me," "A World Without Thieves" and "The Silent Holy Stones."
