Olympic champions Du and Yu into semis at National Games

QINGDAO, East China, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- The Beijing Olympic champions Du Jing and Yu Yang went into the semifinals of women's doubles of badminton tournament at the 11th Chinese National Games here on Friday.

The Liaoning duo notched up the match by beating Hubei's Gao Ling and Wei Yili 21-18, 21-18.

Gao, a twice Olympic champion in mixed doubles, will retire after the National Games.

"Actually I had wanted to retire after the Beijing Olympics but I played for Hubei this time as a reward for their years' support." said Gao.

Gao will take a break after the National Games and plan to be a mother.
