Xiong Yan, president of the Beijing Environmental Exchange, and BlueNext CEO Serge Harry declared that the two sides would jointly launch research and development of China's first voluntary carbon emission reduction standard.
This standard will be developed in accordance with global requirements, rely on current methodology and focus on the large-scale agricultural carbon emission reduction programs of China and other countries. Beijing Environmental Exchange and BlueNext will strive to make it a standard that is widely accepted by both domestic and international communities in a couple of years. The first edition will be released in December during the climate change summit in Copenhagen.
Experts believe that the development of the standard will help build China's voluntary carbon emission reduction market and change the global order of carbon emission cuts.
